Ibiza Balloon Festival 2026 once again fills the island's sky with colour

For three days, Ibiza has once again looked up. The second edition of the Ibiza Balloon Festival brought together  pilots and teams from different backgrounds from 19 to 21 September to discover the island from an unusual perspective: flying over its landscapes at first light.

Almost a dozen hot air balloons participated in an edition that combined flights at dawn, activities for all audiences and Ibiza Night Glow, one of the great moments of the weekend. After several days between heaven and earth, the festival said goodbye yesterday with a last flight from Can Bufí, in Santa Gertrudis, putting the finishing touch to three days dedicated to ballooning, the landscape and outdoor experiences.

First flights at sunrise over Ibiza

The festival began on Saturday 19 early in the morning, since on Friday 18 it was not possible to fly due to the weather conditions of the previous day. At 6:00 a.m., pilots and teams met at Invisa Hotel Es Pla, in Sant Antoni, to hold the technical briefing and study the weather conditions and wind direction before deciding on the take-off point.

Half an hour later, the expedition moved to Cas Campaner, from where the first flight of this second edition began. With the sunrise as a backdrop, almost a dozen balloons rose and left an unusual image over the Ibizan landscape.

As it was a free flight, it was the wind conditions that marked the route of the aircraft until their subsequent landings in the areas of Santa Gertrudis and Sant Rafel.

Among the participants were teams such as Globos La Mancha, Globos Boreal, Ibiza en Globo and Ultramagic Balloons, among others, bringing the world of ballooning closer to residents and visitors again. After the flight, the day continued with a cleaning action in the Ses Variades area, reinforcing the festival's commitment to caring for the environment.

In the afternoon, the activity moved to Ses Variades, in Sant Antoni, to celebrate the long-awaited Ibiza Night Glow. This year, the conditions allowed the four planned balloons to be inflated and the aerial acrobatics to be performed, two of the great novelties of an edition that was able to display the entire show.

The balloons remained on the ground while the flames of their burners illuminated the envelopes from the inside to the rhythm of the music. Light, sound and colour combined in front of the promenade to allow the public to contemplate up close another of the most spectacular faces of the balloon.

The program began in the afternoon with the music of DJ Cris 44, children's activities by Cachirulo and his friends and face painting. Aerial acrobatics were added to the show before the four balloons became the protagonists of the Night Glow. Afterwards, the celebration continued with the performance of MaiK & Reya, as well as a food truck area.

The event also allowed to learn about some of the active tourism experiences that can be enjoyed in Ibiza by Chess in Ibiza, Retro Rides Ibiza, Ibiza Nature Hikes, Ascanio Surf School and Anfibios Ibiza, which also presented information about SCUBAWEEK 2026.

A sunset flight and a final sunrise to say goodbye to the festival

The flights continued on Sunday 20 with a new take-off from Cas Campaner, but the day still held one of the great surprises of this second edition.

Coinciding with the sunset, the Ultramagic team balloon  made a flight from Ses Variades to the bay of Sant Antoni, surprising those who were in the area. The image of the balloon flying over the bay as the sun set left one of the most special images of the festival and allowed you to enjoy the ballooning at a completely different time from the usual flights at dawn.

The farewell finally came on Monday, September 21, when five balloons took off from the Forn de Can Bufí, in Santa Gertrudis, to star in the last morning flight of the Ibiza Balloon Festival 2026.

From the silent sunrises to the sunset flight and the music and lights of the Night Glow, the festival once again combined nature, landscape and ballooning in an experience that can be enjoyed from both the air and the ground.
